Many see him as the true god of Apple & seems that Steve Wozniak, co-founder of the tech giant has in recent times found his genius within the realm of blockchain.
Wozniak recently joined up as a co-founder with EQUI Global which is a venture capital fund built on the fundamentals of blockchain tech.
Wozniak, in a post published on Medium, stated that he’s on the hunt for “tech stars” of the future & his scouting various tech companies to aid in this. Wozniak went on to tell about the number of times he receives innovative pitches from startups but as we know this is, of course, the first time since Apple that the tech philanthropist has agreed to join a company. Wozniak also added that he believes that technology has the power to modify & improve businesses of all kinds. Wozniak’s attention was not only caught by EQUI Global but they also convinced the entrepreneur that their offering would be a game changer.
EQUI Global is currently monitoring as many as 20 different companies ahead of their official launch, according to Wozniak. As soon as these companies are short-listed, they will join a mentorship program headed up by EQUI Globals’ board of social entrepreneurs.
“We are the teachers and I believe in that so strongly because Apple was strongly mentored. The enjoyment we had, the passion, starting the company, the excitement, it’s the most exciting thing,” explained Wozniak.
Baroness Michelle Mone & Douglas Barrowman, EQUI Global’s founders were also praised by Wozniak, for their history of support of the blockchain industry. Just last year, the power couple announced a development of a $325 million residential development – Aston Plaza and Residences in Dubai under the banner of their private equity firm – Aston Ventures and early this year in February they sold 50 apartments to bitcoin users.
Following this, the couple launched an initial coin offering (ICO) for EQUI Capital but only managed to raise $7 million, quite shy of the $80 million they expected to raise earlier in June. Following this the company moved on, abandoning their ICO & rebranded to EQUI Global partnering up with Wozniak in the process.
“Woz has always been my business icon and it’s a dream come true to be working with him at EQUI.”
said Mone on the addition of the Apple co-founder to their team.
EQUI Global’s “open-ended” fund will have it focuses on non-institutional investors as well as tech businesses but 20% will be set aside for businesses, not within the tech spectrum such as real estate. Investors will be able to purchase EQUITokens if they desire to join the venture capital fund and will have the choice of selling these tokens on other cryptocurrency exchanges in order to liquidate their investments.
Wozniak went on to state that believes firms such as EQUI will ultimately cause waves within the venture capital industry and allow companies to adopt this new model based on blockchain technology.
