Blockstream, a Bitcoin development Company, recently unveiled a New Enterprise Mining facility, with clients such as Fidelity and LinkedIn Founder Reid Hoffman. It’s not a secret that the Bitcoin Network is growing fast.
With plans to decentralize mining, Blockstream launched a new colocation service allowing devices to be operated and controlled remotely by clients. The company also assists with the installation and maintenance of equipment with full transparency. To achieve this, a new protocol, BetterHash, created by Bitcoin Developer and Blockstream co-founder Matt Corralo, will be implemented allowing individual miners to control which transactions are included in new blocks, as opposed to determinations by centralized mining pool operators.
This was an addition to the previously released Blockstream Satellite Service, which enables further participation in bitcoin mining, including the billions of people in the world without internet access and people in places where bandwidth prices make participating cost-prohibitive. Blockstream Satellite is available across two-thirds of the Earth’s landmass which helps extend bitcoin mining anywhere in the world, including the countries across Asia, South America, and Africa where the number of nodes today remains small.
The situation of Nodes In Africa.
What is a Node?
A full node is a computer that connects to a cryptocurrency’s network and downloads every single block and transaction on the blockchain. Since full nodes record the entire blockchain’s network activity in real-time, they rely on both storage and bandwidth requirements. Also, a wide variety of digital assets that utilize blockchains have participants running full nodes on networks like dash, litecoin, bitcoin cash, ethereum, and bitcoin core.
According to Coin Dance, there are currently 9262 public nodes running on the Bitcoin network from previously recorded higher numbers, but none seems to ‘pig’ as much on the African Continent as it has to, according to the most recent Bitnodes Live Map. This comes even after Blockstream Satellite is available across two-thirds of the world.
More announcements from Blockstream and other Key Players are expected in the industry and additional educative coverage will soon see an online reach to almost every person on the planet.
