CoinMarketCap the world-renowned cryptocurrency data provider recently launched its first Android app as well as updated its Apple iOS app.

The most notable aspect about the apps is that they offer new features which are currently not yet available on CoinMarketCap’s site. These include portfolio tracking, candlestick charts, side-by-side crypto comparisons, price alerts and user accounts as per the announcement by the firm on Tuesday.

CoinMarketCap’s global head of marketing, Carylyne Chan stated:

“We believe that our users will like the new style and the features we’ve added to these apps, and we’ll continue to update the app regularly based on the feedback we receive.”

All users need to do, is sign up for a CoinMarketCap account via the apps in order to save their portfolios or watchlists. Furthermore, the company also stated it has plans in the pipeline to sync app accounts with the website in the near future.

Notably, the mobile apps also feature a section for “gainers” and “losers” in terms of the various crypto assets available and curated industry news, according to CoinMarketCap. All the data provided on the apps are made available by the company’s API product which was launched back in August.

Back in March, CoinMarketCap also launched two benchmark indices which covers the top 200 crypto assets by market cap, one which features bitcoin (BTC) and one which does not feature it on financial feeds coming from Nasdaq Global Index Data Service (GIDS), Bloomberg Terminal, Thomson Reuters Eikon (Refinitiv) and Germany’s Börse Stuttgart, as well as on its own platform.

Furthermore, the popular data provider also recently added crypto asset letter grades to the platform, which is provided by the blockchain analytics startup known as Flipside. Dubbed The Fundamental Crypto Asset Score (FCAS) metric, it assesses factors such as developer activity and a comprehensive set of transaction data too.

CoinMarketCap originally launched its iOS app back in May 2018 which is also the date of the company’s launch.
