Craig Wright, the man claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto is once again in the spotlight. Craig’s character and reputation are on the edge of the line this time round for allegedly altering the date of publication of crypto-related documents he presumably authored.

The actions not only put to question his credibility but also created doubts as to whether he is Satoshi Nakamoto as he claims to be.  The alteration is likely to have a bearing on the numerous defamation suits he filed in the court of law. In the lawsuits, Craig sued several cryptocurrency twitter influencers for allegedly having defamed him. The particulars of said defamation are linked to Craig’s claim of being the real Nakamoto. This is in the backdrop of the increasing quest to unveil the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, who is credited with being the first person to create and mine Bitcoin in 2008. Even though Craig Wright has on several occasion come out to claim that identity, these latest unearthing is likely to discredit that claim.

Predating documents using recently developed applications

According to a cryptocurrency Twitter user who discovered the anomalies, the published papers purportedly authored in 2012 were created using Adobe PDFMaker software. The said software came into being in 2019. Further, the intrinsic data from the PDF file also shows that the documents were created days ago, rather than 2012 as claimed.

In another separate instance, Craig reportedly posted another backdated article to the Social Sciences Research Network (SSRN). In the incident, Craig alleges the document is from 2007; however, the same was written using software developed in 2012, almost 5 years later. The SSRN posted that the articles use the IBM Watson machine learning program that delivers holographic images. The machine was not available 5 years ago. The document even goes further to make references to the technology in its abstract that has the date of writing and publication as 2012.

The glaring alteration of publication dates in the articles submitted by Craig has come with a consequence. There is an increasing agitation to have all cased filed by Craig on defamation, dropped. The call is attributed to the discrediting of Craig’s character that the revelations have made.
