Many crypto enthusiasts have taken the term “early adopters” to new heights as the emerging trend of micro-implants which are programmable as crypto wallets have begun to become popular within the crypto and body hacking communities.

However, this phenomenon is hardly new. Body hacking as it has been aptly named dates back as far as 2014 when Martijn Wismeijer aka Mr Bitcoin received his first microchip implant.

The tech trend extends beyond that of that crypto community with many users advocating the use of tech implants who also follow the so-called transhumanist movement.

It’s all quite Science-Fiction right now as many people as basically interested in augmenting their bodies with tech implants, which would effectively make them cyborgs, albeit a far cry from the cyborgs we’re used to seeing in Hollywood.

The groundbreaking technology can be utilised for an array of utilities from NFC keys which gives the owner the ability to unlock NFC-enabled doors, machines and other devices with a simple hand gesture to the aforementioned new trend of crypto wallet implants.

How Can Body Hacking Benefit Crypto Users?

Having the ease of access of an implanted crypto wallet makes a lot of sense, theoretically. However, at this stage, these highly technological implants could still be miles away from reaching mainstream adoption.  However, this might not be the end goal, for now at least. Despite the practical use of bio-implants still being arguably trivial, it is common knowledge that cryptocurrency proponents are commonly early adopters of emerging technologies.

As far as these bio-implants are concerned, adoption of the tech cannot be expected to give significant use value but the underlying technology shows immense promise and all new technological advances need early adopters in order to fuel continius improvements and developments of said technologies.
