Huobi Global plans to launch its Blockchain-powered phone on September 11. The phone christened “Acute Angle” will be selling at $515. However, the device goes at half the price upon using Huobi’s Native token, HT. “Acute Angle” is, therefore, priced on the lower side in comparison to other Blockchain-based phones in the market today. Another averagely priced Blockchain-based phone is the Sirin Labs’ ‘Finney‘ that is currently going for $1000.
“Acute Angle” is the brainchild of Whole Network. The Network is a startup project solely financed by Huobi Global. Notably, the phone has been available in the Chinese market way before this scheduled launch. According to reports, Huobi Global intends to explore other markets after the launch of the phone. For starters, Huobi plans to distribute the phones across Southeast Asia within the fourth quarter of 2019. It also intends to introduce the phone in the United States of America and the European markets in the foreseeable future.
Cryptocurrency responsive features
Despite the Whole Network’s device running on an Android operating system, it has notable features that set it apart. These features are cryptocurrency responsive. They include, a hot wallets feature, push trade notifications, an option for cold wallet plugin and a NODE native token. Reportedly, Acute Angle is not to be Whole Networks only mobile device. It is just Network’s first Blockchain-based phone with 5G capability. It will be part of the many yet to be launched phones by Whole Network.
While commenting on the prospect of Blockchain-based phones and Acute Angle, in particular, Livio Weng, the CEO of Huobi Global, stated:
“We think Blockchain phones are a promising area for future Blockchain industry development. As the industry develops and as innovations like 5G become increasingly integrated into our telecommunications systems, we believe more and more crypto communities will want to trade and transact from mobile devices.”
As a result of the launch, Whole Network will be joining Samsung, Sirin Labs and other big names already in the Blockchain-based phone development field. Further, Network’s NODE token is set to be listed on Huobi Prime to compete against other developers of Blockchain-based phone.
