Convenience stores, tobacconists and even restaurants now accept Bitcoin and other digital currencies in many countries around the globe where adoption of crypto and blockchain is blooming. One of these countries is Denmark, where through the use of Hungry.dk citizens can now order takeaway from their favorite restaurants using Bitcoin. (BTC)

Currently, there are not many businesses that allow customers to purchase food with digital currencies and it’s not really an incentive since it means you could lose out in the long run if the market goes up.

However, in Denmark, the sale of food for BTC isn’t new at all. Hungry.dk has in fact been offering their service since 2014 and a representative from the company had this to say about their services:

“We have accepted Bitcoins as a payment method for quite some time. We decided to remove the feature temporarily last year though because the average transaction time took too long, and the experience wasn’t the best.

The problems have since been solved, and we have added the option again… Hungry.dk handle the payment, so you will always be able to use Bitcoins with all the restaurants currently found on Hungry.dk.”

As we know, Hungr.dk was not the sole merchant to remove bitcoin payments during the price explosion & mass spike in interest back last year in 2017. The fact of the matter is simple, while last year may have been as the biggest year for the most popular digital currency it was also an all-time low for adoption by merchants.

We’d just like to see major e-commerce platforms such as Amazon & Apple to come to the party and let’s be honest here, demand for BTC has mostly come from HODLers. Maybe someday we’ll all be able to use BTC for all merchant purchases, be it fast food, music, films video games, techs and everything else, but for now if you find yourself in Denmark and strapped for cash, just hit up Hungry.dk to grab some grub with BTC!

Do you think that BTC will ever be adopted in widespread fashion by more food merchants? Let us know your thoughts.
