According to the Head of Business Development for Tron, Chinese authorities have emancipated Justin Sun, and Sun’s lawyers are resolving the case now.
Roy Liu tweeted a photo on the 26th of July, where Justin Sun is having his picture taken after signing a release agreement.
Former CEO of BitTorrent Says Justin Hasn’t Cleared Last Payment
A tweet from the former CEO of BitTorrent, Bram Cohen, revealing that Sun had not cleared the final payment, was just a new twist to the ongoing saga surrounding Sun.
“Anybody know if Justin Sun is hard up for cash? He isn’t letting the last payment for BitTorrent get out of escrow,” he wrote.
Responding to the tweet, Roy Liu said that Sun is getting back to all of the regular business ventures now that his lawyers have taken over and are toiling on Sun’s issues with the Chinese regulators.
“FYI the money in escrow is not considered Justin’s cash. Justin has signed a release agreement. Buyer/seller lawyers will follow up and settle,” he replied.
According to Chinese media, Sun was facing investigation following allegations of illegal fundraising, money laundering, and provision of pornography services. Because of the ongoing investigations, authorities had barred Sun from traveling outside the country. However, Justin posted several photos of him in San Francisco alongside Tron’s communications guy.
Unraveling the Saga Surrounding Sun
Justin Sun has been the talk of the crypto community for the last few days. It all started after the cancellation of the much-publicized lunch buffet he was supposed to have with Warren Buffet.
Sun had won the bid for a lunch with the Wall Street mogul after shelling out $4.57 million. Buffet had earlier expressed his doubts on cryptocurrencies referring to bitcoin as ‘probably rat poison squared,’ and Justin took to both Twitter and Weibo to state that he aimed to change the billionaire’s mindset on cryptos.
The Sun-Buffett lunch was scheduled for the 25th of July in San Francisco. On the 23rd of July, however, Sun posted on Chinese social media site Weibo that he was canceling the lunch due to health concerns. The TRON Foundation later claimed in a tweet that the lunch was only postponed. Rumors arose that Sun had canceled the lunch because Chinese authorities did not allow him to exit the country following the investigations.
Besides founding TRON and serving as CEO of BitTorrent, Sun also owned another firm named Peiwo (based in Guangzhou) that was recently dissolved, according to China’s national enterprise registration website. The Peiwo mobile application was publicly accused by China’s domestic media outlet, Xinhua, as spreading pornographic content and offering escort services.
Sun posted on Weibo that Caixin’s report was not “completely not true” and that once he feels better, he will make a public appearance.
