Yesterday it was announced that the 65 million plus monthly users who play hours of the ever-popular Multi-Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game League of Legends are eligible to earn cryptocurrency while jamming their favourite game with their friends.

How? Introducing Refereum, a world-class blockchain reward system which recently was integrated with League of Legends, enabling LoL players and Refereum users with the ability to earn crypto for various in-game achievements such as winning battles or even completing matches!

During this beta, League of Legends players can easily sign up and earn crypto while playing their favourite video game. The integration of Refereum is a giant step forward for the rewards company which truly shows the potential of their technology when integrated into any game.

Refereum was founded with the mantra of creating efficient, transparent and fair reward issuance to users from growing online communities.

Dylan Jones, CEO of Refereum had this to say on Gamification:

“Gamification is happening at all levels of society from behavioural economics, to game theory, neural networks and artificial intelligence. We saw is that not everyone was being rewarded fairly for their contribution. In the streaming world, it meant only the top 1% of streamers getting paid; in affiliate marketing, it was ‘the last click;’ and in gaming, it was quickly becoming a world where only the top players are rewarded. But the truth is that in our ever-connected world, we all matter and we all add value, and we built Refereum to recognise this by fairly sharing rewards.”

Even though Refereum community members have been able to earn crypto rewards for well over a year now by means of streaming, sharing and watching games, the integration with the LoL platform is the first time in history where players can earn Refereum tokens ($RFR) for in-game play on that of a non-blockchain game.

Refereum achieved this by integrating its stellar rewards platform with the League of Legends public API. Refereum users have been asking for in-game integration for quite some time according to Jones, which lead his team to start out with a popular MOBA such as LoL.

In time, Refereum has hopes to integrate all major gaming titles onto their platform to help the millions of gamers earn rewards for their work and effort in building massive gaming communities.

During the LoL beta, points earned by users are added to their totals, and at the end of the season, these gamers will earn $RFR based on the amount points they earn during the season.

Players will be able to spend their $RFR on the Refereum platform, either in their online game store or they’ll be able to trade their $RFR for other cryptocurrencies or USD by use of cryptocurrency exchanges.

Any existing Refereum users who link their accounts will earn points immediately when they play Lol, and new users can sign up for the rewards platform for here: https://refereum.com.
