Yesterday’s top performing cryptocurrency in the Top 100 market is one of the world’s largest by market cap, Bitcoin SV, which spiked to over 200% at one point on May 21st on several exchanges.

At around 13:15 UTC, the price of the 11th largest crypto by market cap reached a 24-hour high of $139.31 which was a 120% surge of its opening price for the day which started at $62.99 as per data from CoinMarketCap.

Notably, on certain exchanges, the BSV surge was even more spectacular, in some cases increasing as much as 214% reaching $195 in the BSV/USDT market on Huobi, a crypto exchange based in Singapore.

The surge can in part, be attributed to the recent announcement from Craig Wright, who registered copyright claims to the original code and Bitcoin Whitepaper. Wright also promised to revert the rights to the Bitcoin Association.

The release published yesterday stated:

“Wright intends to assign the copyright registrations to Bitcoin Association to hold for the benefit of the Bitcoin ecosystem. Bitcoin Association is a global industry organization for Bitcoin businesses. It supports BSV and owns the Bitcoin SV client software.”

Data gleaned from Messari revealed that the total exchange 24-hour volume for BSV reached $447.6 million. However, its “Real 10” volume from the 10 exchanges identified as exchanges which reported accurate volume figures revealed that its volume figure was in actual fact closer to $31.8 million as per a report from Bitwise Asset Management.

Bitcoin SV or Bitcoin Satoshi Vision is a fork of the bitcoin cash (BCH) blockchain and notably was recently delisted from several renowned exchanges including Binance since its leading proponent Craig Wright has claimed that he is the mysterious creator of bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. Many crypto enthusiasts in the community have however argued that this claim is fraudulent.

Lastly, Bitcoin Gold (BTG), neo (NEO), Tron (TRX) and bitcoin cash (BCH) all reported 24-hour gains above 5% according to data from CoinMarketCap
